Wicked Awesome Chowda – A beloved New England family recipe

The history of our Chowda begins with our WWII veteran Grandfather, affectionately known as just “Papa”. Papa was born and raised in the seaside communities of Rhode Island. Growing up in the Ocean State, he developed a deep appreciation for the culinary arts, herb gardening and of course all things seafood. In the summer months, Papa would host unforgettable family clambakes where he would prepare simmering pots of freshly caught clams, shrimp, lobsters, mussels, steamers and scallops atop mountains of local corn and sausage sizzling on hot coals.

Our family holidays were also a feast of local dishes and delicacies, and every Christmas morning we anxiously awaited Papa’s arrival with his trays of stuffed clams, bacon-wrapped scallops and, of course, his legendary “Chowda”. We, his young grandsons, were probably more excited to eat Papa’s Chowda on Christmas than we were to open presents. (Yes folks, it was that wicked awesome!) Now grown up with families of our own, we wouldn’t dream of a summer without a clambake and a Christmas without the Chowda. Although our Papa has since passed, the traditions he created will live for generations to come.

How it started

This amazing recipe is one of our grandfather’s favorites. We called him Papa and his life was as rich as the amazing dishes he created. He showed his love for his family by creating special memories around the food he loved to cook and serve. We, his grandsons, now want to bring this special recipe to you and yours to enjoy around your family table. Just do us a favor when you taste that first spoonful, raise a glass to Papa and enjoy!

Wicked Awesome Chowda (WAC) comes with all the fresh herbs and spices and a flavor infusion packet you need to create this legendary dish.
