About Us

The history of our Chowda begins with our grandfather, ‘Papa’, a WWII veteran and native of New England. Born and raised in the seaside communities of Rhode Island, he developed a deep love and appreciation for the culinary arts, herb gardening, and all things seafood. During the summer months, Papa would host unforgettable family clambakes where he would prepare simmering pots of freshly caught clams, shrimp, lobsters, mussels, steamers, and scallops atop mountains of local corn and sausage sizzling on hot coals.

Winter holidays were also a time to feast on local delicacies, and every Christmas morning, we anxiously awaited Papa’s arrival with his trays of stuffed clams, bacon-wrapped scallops, and, of course, his legendary ‘Chowda’. We, his young grandsons, might have even been more excited to eat Papa’s Chowda than to open presents! (Yes, it’s that ‘wicked awesome!’) Now grown, and with families of our own, we wouldn’t dream of a summer without a clambake, or a Christmas without the Chowda. Although our Papa has since passed, the traditions he created will live for years to come, and we hope to share this joy with all of you.
